Welcome to EDELIC. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the EDELIC website (edelic.org), the EDELIC Services Coordinator application (app.edelic.org) (together, the “Services”), and the SMS text message notifications we offer. By creating an account, using the Services, or opting in to text messages, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. About EDELIC
EDELIC is a nonprofit organization based in Eugene, Oregon. The EDELIC Services Coordinator is a platform that connects community members (“patrons”) with trained volunteers and EDELIC board members to coordinate community services, including library visits, peer-to-peer integration support, and community event support.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- Volunteer and board member accounts are created by invitation only.
- You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep your contact information up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
3. Nature of the Services
EDELIC’s services are provided by volunteers on a peer-support basis. You understand and agree that:
- EDELIC volunteers are not acting as medical providers, therapists, counselors, lawyers, or other licensed professionals, and nothing provided through the Services constitutes medical, mental-health, legal, or other professional advice.
- The Services are not an emergency service. If you are experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline immediately.
- Participation in EDELIC services is voluntary, and specific services may require you to review and acknowledge additional disclaimers before a request is created.
- EDELIC does not guarantee that a volunteer will be available for, accept, or complete any service request.
4. Community Conduct
You agree to treat patrons, volunteers, and board members with respect, and you agree not to:
- use the Services for any unlawful purpose;
- harass, threaten, or abuse any person;
- share another user’s personal information outside the platform without their consent;
- send spam or commercial solicitations through the platform’s messaging features; or
- attempt to interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Services.
EDELIC may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms or that EDELIC reasonably believes pose a risk to the community.
5. Messaging Within the Platform
The Services include in-app messaging between patrons, volunteers, and board members for the purpose of coordinating service requests. Messages related to a service request are visible to the participants in that request and to EDELIC board members for safety, quality, and record-keeping purposes. Please do not share sensitive information you do not wish to be retained; message threads are preserved as part of the service record.
6. SMS Text Message Notification Program
EDELIC offers optional SMS text notifications (“EDELIC Service Coordination Notifications”) to help you stay informed about your service requests.
- What you’ll receive: notifications about service request matches, request status changes, reminders about pending requests, and alerts that a new message is waiting for you in the app. Texts contain only a short subject line and a link to the app; never the content of messages.
- Opt-in: you will only receive texts if you explicitly opt in by checking the SMS consent box in the app (during registration or in your profile settings). Consent to receive texts is not a condition of using the Services.
- Message frequency varies based on your service request activity.
- Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan.
- Opt-out: reply STOP to any EDELIC text to unsubscribe, or turn off SMS notifications in the app under your profile settings. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL].
- Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
7. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Services you consent to that collection and use.
8. Intellectual Property
The Services, including their design, text, and software, are owned by EDELIC or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute portions of the Services except as permitted by these Terms or with EDELIC’s written permission.
9. Disclaimers
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. EDELIC does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EDELIC and its board members, volunteers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Services. To the fullest extent permitted by law, EDELIC’s total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. EDELIC may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time for conduct that violates these Terms or to protect the community. Sections 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Lane County, Oregon.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you through the Services. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
